What this page is

This page shows step-by-step instructions on how to set your region. The instructions are geared towards the Illinois::Naperville region of NaNoWriMo but could very easily be used by other regions.

What does having a Home Region mean?

Having a Home Region really means just one thing: your word count can be tallied by your Home Region and used in inter-region wordwars as an additional motivational tool. In addition, for Illinois::Naperville and other regions that create it, your Home Region might add you to a regional wordcount graph.

How does setting your Home Region differ from being Affiliated?

Instructions

Go to My NaNoWriMo

This will take you to your NaNoWriMo profile

Go to User Settings

This will take you to your User Settings page

Go to My Regions

This will take you to My Regions

Click on the Regions tab

This will take you to where you can search for the region you want to affiliate with

Search for the Region

In our case, we will search for naperville

Click on the red Join link

This image below doesn't show the Join link because I'm already affiliated with Naperville; but the cursor does point to where the Join link would be if you aren't already affiliated.

Go to your Home Region tab

This will take you to your Home Region tab

Select your home region from the list of Affiliated regions

Just select your home region from the list of Affiliated regions and click on the Submit button. And that's it! You're done!
