No, seriously. Wash 'em. Constantly. And a little extra Vitamin C couldn't hurt.
Why? Because you're doing NaNoWriMo, and you're stressed, and the LAST thing you and your word count need is to get sick. Believe me. I've mostly spent the last week crawling in and out of bed. I just saw my doctor, who said there's a bug going around that's basically a flu without a fever, and it lasts about two weeks. So I should expect another week of being too tired to do very much about how far I'm falling behind on my word count.
So yes, wash your hands, stay hydrated, and otherwise don't get sick. And to those of you I may have exposed to whatever I've got by attending the Glen Ellyn Caribou write-in on Sunday... I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist. And it really did help with the way-behind-on-the-word-count thing.
I second that. I got a 24 hour bug the first week of NaNoWriMo and I'm one of those people that never gets sick. Wash your hands, sleep well, and eat right.
I second that! I'm very sensitive and felt a bit sick after getting my flu shot, but it was nothing compared to the flu my mom and brother caught. They both got very sick at the same time and I didn't catch it!
It is real easy to help the immune system crash even further if you are doing a weird diet cause you don't want to get away from writing. Trust me words can wait until you finish a decent meal. And drink water. Please. Pretty please? Water will do wonders on a normal basis, but during flu season it helps flush things through. And flu shots, please get one if not for yourself but for those you will be around. I will warn you that I felt like crap for a week after mine, but I haven't caught a single thing since and I take care of sick people.

Gargh...
Also, get a flu shot. It can't hurt.
