- made it to 22,153 words, which is far more than I had ever done previously.
- despite a rough second week, which saw a lot of unproductive days due to severe writers block, did not give up and stayed with the project to the end of the month (and will continue with beyond, as I am pretty pleased with the basis of the story I've been working on)
- Established pretty good consistent writing habits, especially in the last half in the month, averaging 1,000 words per day.
While I did not make the 50,000 this year, this was an extremely valuable and joyful experience for me (and a potential gamechanger for me as a writer). I look forward to winning next year.
I'm so thrilled that I am almost finished with this story. And I'm super glad I never finished the one that comes before this because writing this follow up gave me so many ideas to include in the first.
This NaNo I wrote more words than I ever have and in the quickest amount of time. This entire NaNo was seriously the best experience for me and has me so motivated.
Congratulations! Are you going to make it to the TGIO party on 12/7? I was really glad to meet you at the Starbuck's write-ins and hope to get a chance to read your stuff.
I made over 50,000 before the deadline was up. Even if it meant 18 pages in one day. Now I know that the key to keeping the story moving forward is to sit down at the keyboard and move the #$%^!! thing forward. I'm also grateful for the people I met through this group. We may be crazy, but at least we're all the same kind of crazy!
I averaged 3,444 words per day, which was darn close to my goal of 3,333.
I'm also pleased that I stopped painting after one room when I realized that painting was aggravating my sore shoulder, and not helping at all stopping me from writing too much in a day.
And I'm thrilled that I haven't noticed any over-tightened muscles as a result of this year's NaNo-ing.
I'm also happy with the novel I wrote. :)
The first chapter will be on CritiqueCircle starting 12/4/13.
Thanks! Congrats to you too! I'm not sure yet if I will make it or not. I made plans a couple months ago to meet a friend in Bloomington that day. I'm not sure what time we are meeting yet though so I may still be able to make part of it. I'm still planning on trying to get my butt to Starbucks once a week (though it may end up being more like twice a month since we are in busy season at work.) if you ever want to meet up there. I would love to read yours too!
I am just happy that I was able to get through it with everything going on in my life, and that I got back into writing. It had been a while, and now I'm motivated to start writing something that I've plotted out and will enjoy.
I'm also really pleased that I have such great friends to write with! I mean it, you guys are awesome!
I was actually able to stick to my outline and advance the plot this year! I have about 1 1/2 pages left in my outline and I think it's actually realistic to finish the story this time around.
Here's a place to give a shout-out (or a gentle tweak) of something that you did this NaNo that you're pleased about.
I almost finished my fanfic. Only time will tell if it's good or not.
I managed to get my characters together before NaNo ended, even if it took 68K to get there.
I also broke a new personal record for earliest win & highest word count during NaNo.

Add me to the "most words ever written in one month" category, and I'm still up for finishing the thing and editing it!

I didn't have the most words written in one month, but I did manage my personal best for most words in one day. 12k. I still can't believe I did that.
