Came to my attention that we have quite a few knitters and crochet people here (with me being...a sort of knitter...I learned the basics and then gave up)...and i am sure other needle work people (I am best at cross stitching! Check out the Sturdy Nerdy Stitchery on Etsy to see my cross stitch book marks/patterns!)
My bff knits and crochets and I asked if I could call her a Crochitter...she adamantly said NO! HAHAHA.

Hi! I'm Jade, and while I no longer live in your area, I still feel like this is my home region. So you will occasionally find me frolicking around here.
We moved to the Seattle area a year and a half ago where knitting is everywhere! Each spring, you could spend days trying to complete the local yarn store tours, there are so many! So naturally, I knit and crochet. (I am getting back into cross stitching too with a complex chart that my husband is super excited about).
I just skipped this "term" playing for the Harry Potter Knitting and Crochet House Cup to do fun things like Nano again. I finished my 7 years at the castle playing for Gryffindor my first year and Ravenclaw for my Second through seventh years. I am happy to report that for the past 6 terms, Ravenclaw has won the house cup! There is nothing more motivating to me for finishing projects than imaginary cup points, apparently.
Sweaters are apparently my stumbling block. Started five of them already, finished NONE. But I adore cables and knitting socks.
I hate swatching and the mattress stitch.
Advice? Blocking is always a Good Thing.
And I am currently in love with fingering weight yarn.
Looking forward to other crafty stories! I have so many other crafts that I love.

I was a little intimidated by the types of yarn! Growing up...i always thought there was just...yarn. like...what you'd use in art class in grade school....despite the fact i LOVE knitted sweaters ad know that sweaters come in all different shapes and sizes...
Don't even get me started on craft stores! I had to stop shopping at michaels when I finally sat down and looked at our budget and realized "I spent HOW much at micheals last month?????????????". BUT BUT!!! I HAD COUPONS!
Can i use the excuse "i have a baby that keeps me busy" as to why i don't knit anymore...rather than "i got lazy and bored and gave up"...because the former makes me sound less lazy XD
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Okay, but let's be real. Ravenclaw is the best and we spend the most time studying and excelling so like.... DUH, we'd win. Everyone else is too busy running around fighting each other or, in Hufflepuff's case, probably.... hugging people?
...or start crafting, depending on how you want to spin it. LOL.
I still love Michael's, but local yarn stores with hand dyed yarn are my weakness. I'm also trying to save up money to get all the materials for the next cross stitch project. It is HUGE. In the meantime, I'm doing free form embroidery just to get my stitchy fix,

I only have a few projects that I've actually completed, but I have a TON of yarn (oops!). Fingering / sock weight is my favorite yarn weight too. I have a ton of Madelinetosh yarn (LOVE the colors) because I was part of a couple yarn clubs. I'm NOT ALLOWED to look at any more yarn before I use more of what I have. (Seriously, I don't even have ROOM for more yarn!) But there are a lot of yarn companies I really like, and (of course) more yarn I would want to get. (NOT. ALLOWED!!!!!)
The trouble is that it takes a LONG time to make shawls (which is what I like to make the most), and I've either gotten bored, or it's just gotten too hot to hold yarn and then I've been too busy to get back to it. But someday, I WILL finish the shawl I'm working on. And I WILL learn how to knit socks so I can use up some of my sock yarn! And I WILL get to some of the projects I have queued up.
The biggest help I've gotten with knitting has been from Craftsy classes. They aren't free, but they're pretty reasonably priced, in my opinion, and sometimes they run sales. The two I've gotten the most from are Save Our Stitches and Fearless Knitting, because they both teach you how to fix mistakes. :D
Blocking is annoying and I consistently put it off, but it makes things look sooooo much better.
I have never swatched anything in my life. :D If I were making a sweater, or something that NEEDS to conform to a gauge I'd do it, but I make shawls because it's less vital.
One thing I struggle the most with is making the cast-on too tight. I have to go up a couple needle sizes for it and then switch to the smaller needles.
I find crochet WAY easier than knitting. Maybe just because I've done more crochet projects.
Maybe I will reward myself with some knitting practice later today. But first I must work on my story!!
I have been knitting for a number of years, almost 12 years if you want to be a little more exact. My main forte is blankets, hats and scarfs, though I haven't made any scarfs in a while. Just recently I finished knitting two baby hats and a baby blanket, and I am currently working on three blankets, two for myself and one to give away as a wedding gift. I am about to start a fourth blanket, also to be given away as a wedding gift.
At the library across the street from my house there is a small cafe and there is a knitting/crocheting/cross stitch/etc. group that meets there on Sundays (1-4), from Labor day to Memorial day, and Wednesdays (9-12 and 5-8). I started going there earlier this year and the women there have helped me with my knitting.
One thing that I want to make is a sweater, but I haven't found a pattern that I like yet. I want a sweater that will end up on the baggier side, but I haven't found a pattern that works for that, and I don't know if the yarn I have for it will be enough (Once I find a pattern).
Since today was my birthday...this is one of the things I bought for myself today! I own a book already but it's a small one that isn't as detailed...and I love this one as the pages have real pictures and not illustrations!!! Maybe, this will help me get back into knitting before i end up at a write in LOL!
I bought it...because i'm an idiot...and i needed a guide!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
ooooooooooo those stitch markers!!! I've never used stitch markers...i assume it's self explanatory on their use...i mean, when stitches all start to blend together at some point...
but boo i can't view the hat unless i am on ravelry....*debates*
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
omg omg omg omg i live 8 mintues away AND I GET HOME FROM WORK AT 6!!!!! I've been wanting to hit up AAAALLL the needle craft groups...(i already went to the loose ends crafting group at eola library last thursday)...
I might go...just to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people....provided the hubby is home to watch the baby....but omg! Squid, I'll try to go!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
On thrusday,...there is a wooly bully knitting group that meets once a month (see West Branch ADULT page 20 on the pdf) from 6-7:45pm and I plan to go...it's mainly knitting but you can bring other needle work....I might bring knitting...or my cross stitch...and nov. 16th is the next one after that!
The eola branch hosts the loose ends crafting group on thursdays and next one is nov 9th...and i only have an elmhurst and wheaton write in those days...so i may stay closer to home and go to the loose ends crafting group. When I attended my first meeting on the 12th...it was mainly older ladies (50+)...and there were only 4 of us + the librarian...but i had fun and I want to go again in november...and it would be a nice break from nano!
Does anyone know any more crafting groups aside from 2 brothers round house Pints and Purls, Loose ends at Eola, and Wooly Bully at the west aurora library branch?
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Stitch markers are essential in sanity-keeping!!! If you're doing a large project with lots of stitches, theycan help you keep track of how many stitches there are (which can help you figure outwhen you miss one or add one in when you aren't supposed to--I've been guilty of both!). If you're doing a pattern with repeats, they'll help you keep track of the beginning / end of the repeat and make sure you've got the right number of stitches in the repeat so you can catch mistakes faster.
Ravelry is amazing, though. There are forums for discussion (about knitting/crochet and about other stuff), and also where you canget help or suggestions. There is a massive library of patterns (including, I'm sure, an ACTUAL Dalek hat, and I'm sure I've seen Police Box hat patterns too!). You can keep track of your yarn stash and your projects. You can plan future projects. You can see other people's projects and what color combos they've used, which provides inspiration. It's pretty much the best thing ever for knitting and crochet!
Happy Birthday, and that is a great self-present! Books are so helpful! Especially the ones with step-by-step photos. Ihave one like that for crochet, andI love it! It's called The Complete Photo Guide or something.
I really like the stitch markers. I really need to get new ones, the ones that I have work ok, they just come off super easy and that can get annoying.
Happy birthday!!! Another good place to look for knitting instructions is VeryPink Knits on youtube, she works through a bunch of stitches and techniques.
I don't know if it works for you but the group that I mentioned, called Sit n' Stitch meets on Sundays from 1-4 and on Wednesdays from 9-12 and 5-8. It is at the Joliet Library, the Black road branch, in the small cafe tat is right in the entrance.
I see it now and the hat is awesome! Get some craft wire...and wrap it with silver yarn...and then bend it into the shape of a whisk and attach it to the hat! along side a miniature plunger! and some sort of eye scope...kudos if you make the eye scope a flash light SO YOU CAN SEE IN THE COLD DARKNESS

I should edit or make a post that includes all the knitting/needle work groups!! Who here knows other groups! We can make a list of all the groups so we have knitting and crafting to attend!

There's also a yarn / ice cream place in Lisle on Main St called The Nook, and it's been a while since I've been in there, but they have a large table in there that people were knitting at. I don't know if there's any particular group that meets there, though.
(from my experience the group I ended up knitting with at a Panera in Naperville, maybe not the same one, was very uninviting. But there were a few groups that meet in the same area it looked like.)
I went to Pints and Purls tonight and i had SOOOO much fun!! They will post on their face book page...but they meet every 3rd monday of the month...from 7pm-9pm (when the cafe closes)...and I really enjoyed the ladies there and I had so much fun!
shared interests, shared geek interests, catholics, child care workers, moms, tattoo enthusiasts...it was SUCH a fun group! Thanks Squid, for recommending it! It was the PERFECT therapy for me today since i've had a crappy day full of stress....and the past 2 weeks were stressful when my mom was visiting and staying with us
I am going to attend the Wolly Bully knitting group on thursday at the west aurora library branch...from 6-7:30...if anyone wants to go...I want to get more into knitting...but when these groups don't mind that you do any kind of craft/needle work...I TEND TO GRAVITATE TOWARD CROSS STITCHING!!!!
Thanks, guys and gals for sharing all the craft groups in the area!!! <3 <3 <3
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
I'll have to look them up! If we list enough groups, it may be possible to have almost 1 or 2 groups meeting a week...giving us a never ending supply of knitting and needle work fun!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
They said Nov. 20th is the next one...so...if i get caught up on writing...i might go!
Thursday is the Wolly Bully knit group at the west library branch in Aurora and i know i am going...y'all other knitters should go too....and someone should bring candy....or cookies...because that would be soooo fun! weird discussions, discussions about our novels, crafting, and treats!
p.s: i got a gift card to hobby lobby for my birthday...and i bought a wooden scroll frame for my cross stitching...i saw someone last week at the eola library using one and thought "omg omg i need one of those doohickies!!!"...then...i decided to buy some circular knitting needles so i at least have them for the day i want to be brave and try knitting in the round!
Now, maybe once my day stress goes down, i can continue working on my cross stitch book mark that i HOPE HOPE HOPE to have done by the kick off party so i can donate it to the prize table!!! It's a doctor who themed book mark...IT NEEDS TO BE DONE!
and then, i might be ambitious...and try to cross stitch yet ANOTHER one for the TGIO party...
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Oh man, I wish I'd seen this thread earlier - I'd love to go to a knitting group! (Of course I work every Thursday night.) It'd give me an excuse to actually work on my knitting instead of letting it sit around and get dusty on my coffee table...
I just got an email from String Theory in Glen Ellyn about their knitting advent box. I'm thinking about ordering it as a NaNo prize for myself - I'm not allowed to pick it up unless I'm at my word count goal by the time it's ready on November 15th, and not allowed to open it unless I finish. (I've had some success in the past by bribing myself this way...)

Well...there are other knitting groups..like loose ends at the eola.library...pints and purls at 2 brothers round house...geneva library. ..that one at the mall...tons of stuff!
Aside from knitting...does anyone else do any other needlework? I'd love to know other cross stitchers...or people who do embroidery!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
I'm not ashamed (okay, maybe a little ashamed) to admit I took out a credit card a couple of years ago for the sole purpose of buying good quality yarn at the local yarn shops. (It's got a zero balance on it right now, but I buy a lot in the early summer to knit for gifts.) There's NOTHING like freshly shorn alpaca wool being spun into yarn as you watch. It's hypnotizing. And sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo soft. Some day I'll learn to spin. Some day.
Of course, my dream is to have land in Ireland and own sheep, then shearing, brushing, and spinning myself. I have lofty dreams, it seems.
I also find that knitting when I'm struggling with a writer's block is helpful. As my fingers work the yarn, I'm able to mentally work through the issues in my story in my head.
I love that y'all have a crafting corner group within your region. I may just have to see if there's interest out in the Denver area! <3

just an fyi...another stressed day means that getting out of the house will do me good, so I'm going to check out the wolly bully knitting group at the west aurora branch library from 6-7:45...if in case anyone see's this and needs to get some knitting done...
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
I definitely agree with you about knitting helping with writing quandaries. It's one of those things where you can get into the zone and let your mind wander--perfect for figuring out story issues!
I have some alpaca-blend yarn, but I haven't tried knitting with it yet! It will probably be a while yet (I'm forcing myself to finish what I'm currently working on), but I'm so excited to try it!
I AM ABOUT READY TO SCREAM UNTIL I PASS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so, my frustration tonight comes from my cross stitching and the huge mistake with the only two solutions being: remove all stitches to fix it...or start over from scratch...because "making it work" wouldn't work...and would make it look wonky and off center.
And these stitches that need to be removed...it isn't a measly 4 or 5 stitches...try...about...50-100 stitches...because as i was stitching the T.A.R.D.I.S in all it's blue glory...i realized...i was off by TWO COLUMNS OF STITCHES...and if i continued...THE TARDIS WOULDN'T FIT ON THE GOD DAMN BOOK MARK...like...a TEENY TINY CORNER of the tardis would be cut off...which is only 2px wide by 3 or 4 px tall...BUT ENOUGH TO BOTHER ME!
AUGH! DFSJKDFSJK!@#$%^!!
And i am already 11 hours into this book mark (i'm keeping a time sheet of all my projects) so...JDFSJKDSF !@##$%#$%$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Noooooo!!!!!!!!! That's horrible! Just try to remember how enjoyable those 11 hours were before you realized the mistake! And as sad as it is that you can't get in an actual TARDIS and go back and tell yourself not to make the mistake in the first place, it is still fixable and that it could always be worse!

I think the one that gave me the most trouble was this awesome mini-shawl. It was one of my first knitting projects, and I had such a hard time with starting it. It uses an i-cord cast-on, and it was SUCH a PITA trying to knit that damn i-cord, and I felt so accomplished when I was finally done with the cast-on and could start knitting the shawl part. I knitted at LEAST 10 rows, maybe 20, before I realized I had done that stupid i-cord WAY too tight and I had to start over!!! I'm really glad I did, though. It looks amazing now! I still have to block it, though... Sigh.
while i was at the nichols library on suday (because i goofed and thought the last workshop was then...and not saturday HAHA)...i picked up a program book for naperville/dupage county...and they have knitting and craft groups!

Curious how long different projects take you? I am currently trying to finish an 8x3 book mark (on 16ct aida fabric) for the kick of party so i can donate it to the prize table...and i am already 15 hours in and only 65% done!!! I probably would have been 75% done if i didn't have to rip out almost 100 stitches!

AUGH!!! this cross stitching is taking WAY longer than i thought and because i am a procrastinator who started working on this thing 1 month ago...it may not be finished by saturday!! BUT I CAN TRY!
well, maybe if i don't finish for saturday...i can finish it for the TGIO party...and then give me time to make a second one (maybe nano themed) for the prize table...MAYBE
I have two and a quarter days to finish this...#NoseToTheGrindStone

Hi crafters! I knit. I've tried to crochet, but can't figure it out well enough to do anything I'd ever want to do. And needle work isn't right for my personal attention span. I don't know how you guys do it!
I've knit most of my life, starting around 4th grade, and have finished many projects, although currently they tend to be on the smaller size.
Right now I'm finishing up a baby blanket for a baby born a couple of months ago (oops!), and need to get started on one for a baby due in several months (haha, I'll do it next year). I think I might just do a few more so I have them on hand and don't get backed up again...
My next project however, is this:https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wonder-woman-wrap-knit for a friend for Christmas.
My biggest frustration is getting 1/4 of the way through a cabled baby blanket and realize that I was reading the pattern all wrong. I had never done cables before, and totally forgot that with the chart I'd have to reverse the instructions every other row. I've followed charts before, but in double knitting so the chart stays the same 'cause it's all knit, no purl if that makes sense. Oops. It's totally on hold for a while because I can't face ripping it all out and starting again.
The Wonder Woman wrap is cool and I totally agree with you about putting projects on hold instead of ripping them out and starting over. I have a blanket that is on hold at the moment and I don't like the size of it, because it's supposed to be a larger blanket, and I don't have enough yarn to make it bigger.
That Wonder Woman wrap looks amazing! Totally added it to my queue too!
Having to rip things out and start over is alwaysso upsetting. :(
Ihave a tendency to want to do big projects, and many have gotten abandoned because I've gotten bored. Oops! I should try to do more smaller things so I have a better chance of finishing them, lol.
I find crochet easier than knitting, but I started with crochet, so I have more practice with it. There are things I like about each, but I tend to prefer the way knitted items look!

See, i am the opposite...i don't have the attention span for knitting at the moment...all the new learnings...and knits...and remembering where i left off...i find cross stitching easier TBH...and the repetitiveness of the stitching is quite calming,..........................until...........
i get to your frustration and realize something wasn't right or sized right and i have to rip out all 100 -200 stitches (which on cross stitching, is a pain in the ass) because finding a way to "make it work" made the piece look funky AND I DO NOT WANT A FUNKY LOOKING PIECE!
though, I saw some pieces at the sandwich fair...and holy amazeballs...THOSE take patience! I'm already 20 hrs into this current piece AND STILL NOT DONE...so i recall THOSE pieces i saw on the wall at the fair...THOSE OMG...must have taken 50 hours!

oommmgg....YES. someone else who does this too! i have a baby bib unfinished that could have been finished months ago...a baby teddy bear plaque thing...could have been done more than months ago...and these aren't even big projects! I just need someone to kick me in the ass when i debate on starting something new,. Someone to yell at me and go "NO! BAD DOG! You haven't finished your last project *whack with a newspaper*"
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
ok...I'll finally post a W.I.P...i tried SO hard to have this done by today so it could go on the prize table...but...so far i like it...need to finish the tardis book and then add "Nano 2017" at the bottom...
and...since i have until the TGIO party...i can cross stitch one or two more simple ones that just say "nano winner 2017" or something...
Nice seeing you guys again at the kick off party, EVEN IF I ARRIVED A DAMN HOUR EARLY because my brain sucks at time
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Call me crazy but I have two blankets and 8 (ish) dishcloths to finish by March and April. So with school and doing NaNo next month is going to be a little bit crazy as I write, knit and do homework.
Hm. It's been a while since I timed anything - I think a project that size would take me around 10-15 hours, depending on the fiddliness of the thread. (Never again, DMC metallics. Never again.)
Ok guys! If you need a break from Nano...Eola branch library has their loose ends craft group from 6-7:30...which i am probably going to plan a write-in before hand from 2-6....and then the next week is the wolly bully craft group at the west branch from 6-7:30...and again, i might host a write in from 2-6 before hand...
Anyone want to come write...and then craft after for a much needed writing break?
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
I'm cross stitching a 50th Anniversary card for some friends. Just can't see too well anymore so I don't do big projects.
I'm also getting ready to build a new ground plane antenna for my portable transceiver. It's my first attempt at an antenna build. But perhaps that's a different thread.

There is a young girl who came to the Wolly Bully nitting group last week and she had a cross stitch project that was HUGE and took several years...and i was SO SUPER IMPRESSED...and while i know i have the skill to do something like that... are you kidding me? cuz...like...i have a dog and a kid...3 kids if you count the husband...AND i have a household to run...so maybe when i retire and if my vision is still good...i can attempt the big project...i mean, i saw some cross stitch at the sandwich fair and almost got dizzy thinking of how long it took to make them!

This deserves a full size glory pic! AFTER 27 HOURS OF STITCHING, REMOVING DAMN STITCHES, STITCHING AGAIN...IT'S ALL DONE!!! like...all i have to do is assemble it with ribbon and card stock via my sewing machine which is the somewhat EASY PART BUT DFSJKDFSKJDFSKS IT'S DONE!
I should be able to give it to Tim tomorrow or next sunday so that it can be given as a prize at the TGIO party!
and then, once this one is done in the next couple days, i can open myself up for a comission or two...(hint hint, christmas gift)
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Thanks!! It really feels good when you put in hard work toward something and the joy when people love it! I can't wait to see which lucky prize winner will win it at the TGIO party!
Hopefully, a fellow whovian who can appreciate it just as much as I! Or at least a fellow book nerd who would love to mark their books with it!

But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Okay, but let's be real. Ravenclaw is the best and we spend the most time studying and excelling so like.... DUH, we'd win. Everyone else is too busy running around fighting each other or, in Hufflepuff's case, probably.... hugging people?
For anyone interested! Tomorrow, Oct 16th, at Two Brothers Roundhouse:
https://www.facebook.com/events/503755086663761/
I used to go often and then fell off the wagon for a while, but if anyone wants to go I would be happy to attend if I get out of work in time.
I hear babies are a good reason to stop crafting.
...or start crafting, depending on how you want to spin it. LOL.
I still love Michael's, but local yarn stores with hand dyed yarn are my weakness. I'm also trying to save up money to get all the materials for the next cross stitch project. It is HUGE. In the meantime, I'm doing free form embroidery just to get my stitchy fix,
Burn the land, boil the sea...you can't take the sky from me! - Joss Whedon
Oooo, and if I get back into knitting, then I have an excuse to get these Doctor Who stitch markers! :D :D :D (Also this hat I made kinda looks like a Dalek!)

Oo, this looks like fun! Sadly I won't be available tomorrow, but maybe I can go next time they have one, especially if it isn't during NaNo season.

Looks like fun, but unfortunately, it is a little too far for me. If there was something like that a little closer I would go.
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
ooooooooooo those stitch markers!!! I've never used stitch markers...i assume it's self explanatory on their use...i mean, when stitches all start to blend together at some point...
but boo i can't view the hat unless i am on ravelry....*debates*
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
omg omg omg omg i live 8 mintues away AND I GET HOME FROM WORK AT 6!!!!!
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Also knitters near west aurora:
http://www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/APL-Fall-2017-final.pdf
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Stitch markers are essential in sanity-keeping!!! If you're doing a large project with lots of stitches, theycan help you keep track of how many stitches there are (which can help you figure outwhen you miss one or add one in when you aren't supposed to--I've been guilty of both!). If you're doing a pattern with repeats, they'll help you keep track of the beginning / end of the repeat and make sure you've got the right number of stitches in the repeat so you can catch mistakes faster.
Can you seethe Daleky hat with this link without joining? Or the pattern?

I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
I should edit or make a post that includes all the knitting/needle work groups!! Who here knows other groups! We can make a list of all the groups so we have knitting and crafting to attend!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Hahaha omg that would be amazing. I am far too lazy to actually do it, but it would be fantastic!!!

I found one at the Geneva library, and one that meets at the Fox Valley Mall Panera on Thursdays.
There's also a yarn / ice cream place in Lisle on Main St called The Nook, and it's been a while since I've been in there, but they have a large table in there that people were knitting at. I don't know if there's any particular group that meets there, though.
Twitter | Instagram | Ravelry
There is another group that meets at a Panera Bread in the Plainfield/Naperville area.
Hey! I'm not going to make it to this one either! (Unfortunately, now. SIGH)
BUT, I got invited to go hang out with wrestlers while they train so...... Yes. Haha xD but next time!
(from my experience the group I ended up knitting with at a Panera in Naperville, maybe not the same one, was very uninviting. But there were a few groups that meet in the same area it looked like.)
The Plainfield/Naperville group is called "The Slip Knots." I've never gone, but I found them on Ravelry.
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
I'll have to look them up! If we list enough groups, it may be possible to have almost 1 or 2 groups meeting a week...giving us a never ending supply of knitting and needle work fun!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Yesss, I love Pints and Purls. I'll do my best to be there next time and we can meet up!
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
That's a good idea, though I will have to do it with one of the blankets I am making for myself.
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Noooooo!!!!!!!!! That's horrible! Just try to remember how enjoyable those 11 hours were before you realized the mistake! And as sad as it is that you can't get in an actual TARDIS and go back and tell yourself not to make the mistake in the first place, it is still fixable and that it could always be worse!
Twitter | Instagram | Ravelry
ENJOYABLE?!!? ..........well. ok. i'll give you that...all the stitches are now removed...but OOHHHMAAAHHHHGAAWWWWD my desk is COVERED IN THREADS!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
For some reason I read it as "covered in tears", lol. I hope that isn't the case, but I wouldn't blame you!!
Twitter | Instagram | Ravelry
Well..thread.. tears...same thing...that undeniable frustration when you realize your mistake far too late...
anyone else care to share their frustrating stories?
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Sigh.

omg...i am in LOVE with the color!!!! It's as if a dragon blessed it with fiery breath!!!

Right??? I love it so much! And it has some silk in it, so it looks a little shiny too!! It was wonderful to knit with!

I also do cross stitch (and am trying to branch out into surface embroidery). Anything with lots of pretty colors and I'm in. :D
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
AUGH!!! this cross stitching is taking WAY longer than i thought and because i am a procrastinator who started working on this thing 1 month ago...it may not be finished by saturday!! BUT I CAN TRY!
well, maybe if i don't finish for saturday...i can finish it for the TGIO party...and then give me time to make a second one (maybe nano themed) for the prize table...MAYBE
I have two and a quarter days to finish this...#NoseToTheGrindStone
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Twitter | Instagram | Ravelry
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Psssst...I see some of you at the kick off...no more raffle tickets until you finish your projects!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
ok...I'll finally post a W.I.P...i tried SO hard to have this done by today so it could go on the prize table...but...so far i like it...need to finish the tardis book and then add "Nano 2017" at the bottom...
and...since i have until the TGIO party...i can cross stitch one or two more simple ones that just say "nano winner 2017" or something...
Nice seeing you guys again at the kick off party, EVEN IF I ARRIVED A DAMN HOUR EARLY because my brain sucks at time
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
I like the bookmark :)
I love it so much!!! That winner will be one lucky person!!
Twitter | Instagram | Ravelry
That's awesome.
Thanks! I know i'll have it done by the TGIO party..and making a few simple "nano winner" book marks should take FAR less than 20 hours lol!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Call me crazy but I have two blankets and 8 (ish) dishcloths to finish by March and April. So with school and doing NaNo next month is going to be a little bit crazy as I write, knit and do homework.
post progress pictures! that way we can ooohhh and aaahhhh over it...and cheer you on to keep going!
then, you can angrily vent when something goes wrong, something snags, or something unravels!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
Hm. It's been a while since I timed anything - I think a project that size would take me around 10-15 hours, depending on the fiddliness of the thread. (Never again, DMC metallics. Never again.)
I will do my best to post pictures.
But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
ooooo!!! Pints and Purls is tonight at the 2 brothers round house! Anyone want to go take a writing break with me and go knit and craft?
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?
I'm in! Need to stop there anyway
Welp, left my wallet at home so I'm not actually going to make it.
Nooooooo! I am here and you arent? Nooooooooo!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

Do you have a pattern for this?
If so I would like a copy.
Thanks,
