Yes, it's time once again for folks to join our little community wordcount graph! Want to see how you're doing relative to others in the region? Need a bit of slightly competitive motivation? Like pictures of graphs?
Just post a quick synopsis of your novel in this thread to join!
My story is a coming of age tale about a young woman from a different dimension who, kidnapped at a very young age, must learn who she really is even as she is faced with a terrible choice.
I will be revising my BarnYard Heroes novel told from the cat's perspective, titled The Power of Steel Wool. The cat must stop a army of sheep she unwittingly helped create.
After her husband falls ill, a mother goes in search of her wayward sonand along the way revisits/reckons with the events and mistakes that brought their family to this point.
stupid synopsis! I hate these...but...if I must to get on the graph!
a person from our world gets trapped in side a fantasy world and with the help of some unusual characters, has to find their way home. conflicts arise, maybe shenanigans, inner turmoil...the usual.
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
My story is a dual-POV fantasy romance.Someone is killed, which drags my male main character back to the city where he suffered hismost devastating losses in a catastrophe he himself caused. My female main character has a prophetic dream, which draws her to seek advice from traders who are passing through. This puts her in the path of the MMC, and together they must find the murderer, prevent further destruction, and deal with their pasts, falling in love in the process.
Teenagers, Jane from the present and Birdie from the Old West, are now stuck in each other's worlds. UFO sitings are making front page news in 1897. History and fantasy collide as the girls look for a connection between their dream guardians and an 'alien' pilot who crash landed on Earth.
Radioactive Wolves: Samantha has died, Gerrard and Anne deal with the emotional fallout, Alex and Matt try to go home, with varying degrees of success.
Modern day tellings of Greek gods on Greek row... because what else would you do with a college themed set of short stories around the lives of young people? Six (maybe five) short stories about Zeus, Hera, Hades, and the rest of the gang. Much shenanigans (and death) to be had.
Keeping this super brief, my novel chronicles the mishaps of what happens when telekinetic super powers are given to youngsters who are going through puberty. Major spoilers: lots of bad stuff happens.

pppsssstttt....come to my house to write!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Fake-dating modern romance story between an ace and an aro girl, so, you know, I'm using the word romance pretty loosely. 100% altering their friendship, 70% destroying it.
Add me to the graph. It is one of my favorite motivators each year. My name is Cici Edward and I write paranormal romance with ghost stories and YA. I still have no clue what I'm working on yet!! But that's not going to stop me!

IcicleFerret, a.k.a. Sarah, a.k.a. S. Ellen J., signing up whether I want to or not.
This year I'm continuing the story I started last year, The True Enemy. It has everything a military sci-fi story needs: spaceships, space marines, aliens, an evil bureaucracy, and a military officer who inspires others to do the impossible.
A king is mysteriously connected to the seasons, and his life has been rather unusual. When a girl fleeing her past comes to the palace with the intention of theft, things might just change!
Fantasy novel about a thief stealing a cursed knife, and being forced to kill lest the knife turn on him. The horror of killing mixed with a hint of adulation for assassinations.
This year I'm writing about something I've loved forever but have never incorporated into a NaNo story: WWII. Three women's lives intersect during their time in the WAAF in England, during the London Blitz.
My story's about a monster hunter that's tracking down a group of witches but accidentally joins up with the group. There's also dragons in it because dragons are cool.
Please add me to the word count graph. It is motivating and humbling at the same time. This is my third attempt to write 50,000 words in November, but I really believe that "three time's a charm" and I am very determined to finally reach my goal. I am continuing my work on a humorous look into the lives of two estranged half-sisters which is often complicated, and not what most people would consider normal. But to be fair, what family can actually claim to be normal? They spend years attempting to go about their very different lives yet realize in the end, family matters and you can't make this stuff up.
Hi there! Todd Bogenrief here and I am bound and determined to get as far as I can this time after a couple of false starts. Hopefully that old saying about the third time is true lol. Graphs seem fun.
I am restarting an old game company and building a brand new world for it, and this year's novel will be a throwback to pulp fantasy and science fiction with the action taking place in the swamps and jungles of Venus, where airships harness the power of lightning and knights in steam-powered armor battle dinosaurs and demons.
yesssss the graph is here again. All hail the graph.
I'm writing fanfiction this year, because I crave the instant gratification of the kudos button. Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, Elves, Dwarves, Humans, politics. Also a romance. Nobody dies, but there is The Creeping Weight Of Mortality (for some people).
In eight previous novels, the origin of the time-bending devices known as timebands was never revealed. Now, inThe Timeband Designers, the truth behind their creation is revealed at last.
My novel this year will be a humorous story about members of a role playing group getting sucked into their own game world, and are immediately mistaken for the characters that they play. Conversely, their characters are brought out into the real world, mistaken for their real life counterparts and proceed to wreak havoc on their alter egos lives.
Oh... and here's my synopsis: a book club discovers that a fantasy world that is featured in a best-selling novel was first envisioned in an unpublished manuscript nearly forty years earlier. One of the book club members investigates, unraveling the hidden connections between the two books.
Please add me! I am writing a contemporary young adult novel. Lila ditches her summer abroad trip after discovering her boyfriend hooking up with another girl at a party the night before the plane leaves; now out the trip money and owing her parents, the only summer job left is the driving range working with her ex's three BFFs.
Young Adult Series ... I'm writing the third book of Panther's Head Series. The twins with the animal powers due to her genetically mixed animal DNA are vacationing on Puerto Rico and get kidnapped after the hurricane hit the island ... or something like that
During a snowstorm, Arthur discovers that he can see and speak with ghosts. The ghost that Arthur speaks with regularly, named George, helps Arthur stop an evil ghost take over the world.
Please add me to the graph.I'm writing about two women in diferent times each struggling with choices and secrets of both personal as well as historical significance. The best part - their worlds collide.
I've moved slightly beyond 'absolutely no idea' and have three different premises sketched out to choose from... so pretty much almost 'absolutely no idea', except less scary!
Hello! Please add me to the chart! This year I'm planning to write a book that is more centered on life in the digital age, but I'm not entirely sure of what I'm writing yet, so I don't have a synopsis yet. :)
Thorn & Fang:The Empire to the North is an old enemy, and no one can be sure whether the Queen of Nightsend was invited to a Kor's Meet to mend relations, or resume hostilities.
The Internet is taken over by an AI. It seems to generally work better for everyone except Michael. The Internet is just a black screen to him. Well, and nasty posts from his ex-wife, those seem to get through fine.
My novel, "Barbers named Sam" is a contemporary story of a woman who loses her husband and home. It is about the unlikely friendship she develops with her landlord as she navigates the unknown waters of a new life.
Madly typing! Add me to the graph please. Writing a fantasydescribed on Nano site as, "A young woman finds herself trapped in a dangerous land she must traverse to find her way home and ultimately finds herself along the way." Sounds kind of lame, butin the spirit of callalilly05, I am not going to let that stop me. Back to writing!
My novel this year is book 2 in a series. If someone hadn't read the first book yet (which, considering most of the first book hasn't been written yet...), they might pick it up and think it was a coming of age story at first. Troy is getting ready for her bat mitzvah. Oh, but it's fantasy, and she has this big-sister-figure who's getting ready for her pathfinder's test. And then some mysterious figure breaks into Troy's room and tries to kill her. And then the MacGuffin gets stolen. Meanwhile, my cast of young teenagers are all starting to notice that they have hormones. Oh, and then there's the family drama, what with Troy not bothering to tell her friends that their beloved MIA hero is also, y'know, her long-lost mother, and now she's meeting her mother's estranged relatives who may or may not know whose daughter she is.
...I've heard this odd rumor that there is such a thing as a SIMPLE plot... Does anyone know if that's true?
I am working on a young adult coming of age story featuring a female protagonist. I haven't spent much time plotting it out or planning in advance of Day 1, so more details will be forthcoming as I see how things take shape! I do have about 1,300 words in for today though.
Hi! I think this graph is pretty awesome so I'd love to be added! My novel is about a guy who hates the world and learns to love it again bit by bit through his adventures.
Since I'm obsessively refreshing this to compare myself to my competitors *ahem* watch my word count grow *ahem* and not seeing changes - when does this sync to NaNo's site? I know it's not live.
The misadventures of Meowzabub and Woofael. Stay tuned to find out what happens when Lucifer gets stuck as a cat with an annoying angel following him around as a dog. What could possibly go wrong....
I'm writing the sequel to my novel from last year, a YA sci-fi/space opera. Not sure exactly where it's going yet, but it's going! I'd love to be on the graph again this year.
I'm writing a science fiction - mystery:The crew of a space ship try to determine which of the Artificial Intelligence systems installed into the ship killed its last crew without alerting the AI that theyre searching for it.
I'm working on a script titled 'Song for the Deafness WIthin' The film depictsprophetic visions ofan old recluse who awakens to save the last human child from the collapse of a brainwashed society.
my novel, The Product, is mainstream fiction. It is a tale of power, rebellion and revenge. Set in the dark dirty, money driven world of college football.
Please add me to the graph. I'm starting over with an idea I've been playing with (and have had several false starts with) for a couple years now. Told from the perspective of a teenage ballet student, it's about a new girl in the class who seemsunbelievably perfect. As it turns out, she's a cyborg specifically designed to be the perfect ballerina. My story is very loosely based on the ballet Coppelia and discusses perfectionism and the importance of the human element in art.
Please add me to the graph. I'm writing a horror story about alien vampires ruining the low budget movie some college friends are making together, it's gonna be a fun time ;)
Please add me to the graph! My story is about a witchwho has a particular skill set and knowledge that makes her uniquely qualified to save the world from demons, but she hates people.
