I listen to inspirational music on either Pandora or Amazon Prime while writing my project, though I will occasionally switch to more dramatic music to inspire dramatic scenes.
I usually have Youtube going in the background. I'm very into psychedelic/stoner/fuzz rock. There's a great channel on Youtube called Stoned Meadow of Doom highlighting modern bands in this genre. It mostly instrumental and makes for good background fuzzy-crunchy guitar rock.
depends. 93.9 MyFM has christmas music now!!! plus, every hour on the 25's...you can text the code word to win 1,000...so i figure, i can listen to festive music while i write...and every hour...have a chance to win...though i never do
sometimes i just like silence otherwise i get too distracted singing the lyrics...or humming the instrumental music
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
I listen to the songs my song sends me. It started when I fell in love with listening to the music of Halo--magnificent orchestration and men's choirs vocalizing. It has build up and climax, so it is in sync with the writing.
I have a youtube channel with music for different moods--sad music for sad scenes, victory music for champions, and soothing music for resolutions.

BM~ "Wow. The twist was totally unexpected, or should I say 'twists'. What a ride. Seriously creepyfelt shivers.the ending. Excellent."
I've got a playlist of orchestra/movie/video game music that I listen too. Words can be a bit distracting when I want to chug through things.
I love the HTTYD soundtracks and stuff from Two Steps From Hell a lot. (Despite the metalishname, it's actually an orchestragroup that got started doing trailer music for movies)
Every year I choose a song/album and pavlov myself into writing when that music comes on. This year it's Hozier's Nina Cried Power EP. Last year it was "Perfect Strangers" by Jonas Blue. Every now and then I'll switch it up and listen to whatever, but I do the bulk of my writing to the chosen music.
Mass Effect soundtrack, usually. Or LOTR. But this year it's been the soundtrack from Sense and Sensibility with the ambient sounds of "Jane Austen's Desk". I really really love Ambient mixer!

Just saw this today (for rain sounds).
Mostly I listen to Pandora for movie scores (like the Hobbit or Interstellar or Gattaca).
What are your favorites and go-to sites? I recall there was one that had cafe sounds...
