So! You've hit the 50k. Or perhaps you have surpassed it! Or maybe you are close and you know a win is with in reach!
Use this thread to cheer to the skies, or to moan on about you won but still haven't finished your novel. Use this thread to cheer on others, to celebrate the wins! Or, to moan about you won, but your novel feels like it could fit in with a pile of cow chips
Or, use this thread to encourage others to keep fighting the good fight! Use this thread to share tips on how you got to 50k...or farther!
Which ever! You made it to 50k! You (hopefully) gained healthy writing habits to keep you trudging the rest of the year, or maybe, you just hit your 50K and slammed on the breaks until next year, taking the much needed break to stop writing so you can finish all...the...knitting...gifts...you...need...to...make...for...christmas...
So! Huzzah to all of you who made it! Huzzah to all of you who surpassed! Huzzah to all of you who are close! and Huzzah to all of you who aren't close...because you should still be proud! You wrote! You did a thing! YOU DID A GREAT THING even if that thing is only 2k in words! That's more words than 0!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
DONE!My fingers have been flying all day, and I just sailed passed2 million lifetime NaNoWriMo words. I have the first draft of most of a series knocked out. I'll probably write another 15k of silliness over the next few days just to meet my 15k per day goal, but for the most part, I'm just going to breathe a bit. Current count: 435,501.
I reached 50k at today's Glen Ellyn write-in, and it feels good! As recently as yesterday I was second-guessing whether I would even reach 50k by the end of the month, between Real Life problems cropping up and my personal tendency to jump from story to story without ever finishing one. Speaking of which... I still have a lot of story to write for my NaNo story. I guess I'll keep chugging away, even after November's over... but it feels good to reach that 50k mark regardless, especially while surrounded by fellow writers who understand the significance of it. <3
Lots and lots of sprints. And keeping my inner editor tied to a chair in a locked closet with her mouth taped closed. Never saying no to an idea. And Ive been playing piano for 37 years. My fingers are very nimble and fast. I usually get between 850 and 1100 words in a 15 minute sprint.
All that being said, Im much, MUCH slower December-October. Those are the months I paralyze myself with insignificant details and an unhealthy abundance of self doubt. Honestly, Id rather be slower in November if it meant being more consistent and confident the rest of the year.
i reached 50k on sunday at Nichols library. This has been THE earliest i have EVER completed nano...and...even though i had 5 more days to write...my brain just seemed to automatically shut off once i was done for the day...in kind of that "eh, i hit 50k. i'm good" instead of "LETS KEEP GOING! YOUR NOVEL STILL ISN'T FINISHED"
I guess i'm just glad to be done. take a novel break because i have so many knitting projects to get done for christmas...so many shows to catch up on, chores to catch up on...my office is a MESS (again)
but woo!! i finished nano in my earliest time!!! That makes me feel so proud!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Finally finished 50k! My confirmed manuscript was about 58 words over the count I had tracked, so I gained 58 words in less than a second! Unfortunately I still petered out on my story and don't know how to end it. Maybe that's something I can explore as I try to finish the 18k challenge.
So you're the one those different colored sticks are for in the box of doom! :D I got 700+ in a sprint this year and that's the most ever for me :) I'm curious, is your 400k different stories or one book?

Made it across (thanks to Squiddish for lending me her laptop since for some weird reason my chromebook wouldn't paste my story into the validator box) 50k for my sixteenth straight NaNo win!

Honestly, how do you write that fast?

I finished 50k earlier today and for once I'm not scrambling close to midnight to verify wordcount!
