To all Naperville wrimos everywhere:

Happy Thanksgiving! Four days (and change) remain. At the end of Friday, November 26th, you need to have a minimum of 43342 words if you're going by the 1667 words per day plan. Don't have it yet? Well, my first year of NaNo I was down by more than 15,000 words with three days to go--and I finished. Others have come back from further down--much further down. Do you have a miracle finish in you for your novel this year?

Think of it this way. NaNoWriMo is all about motivating and encouraging writers to break through their writer's block to complete their novels. Every milestone you pass along the way makes the whole journey worthwhile, even if you don't make it past 50,000 words.

Of course, making it past 50,000 words is the ultimate goal. If you make it, you'll not only have completed your NaNoWriMo goal, you'll earn the promotional free CreateSpace book proof. Just imagine holding a physical copy of your book--all for free! It is a worthwhile prize.

To help you along the way, we still have some write-in events remaining, including the final Sunday write-in at the Nichols Library in Naperville, for which I have prepared some exquisite new plot bunnies.

Final set of plot bunnies for 2010

So shake off the post-Thanksgiving turpor and put forth your Herculean efforts. Make those milestones. Now is the time.

--Tim

There will be a write-in starting at 3:30 PM at Caribou Coffee in Naperville (at Riverbrook Plaza, the usual place). This one is an impromptu session to help get your word count up -- there may be near back to back word wars if that's what it takes! Otherwise let's call it the Last Lap write-in, where you are so close to your goal!

I just scheduled two more write-ins at Caribou --
Saturday morning and Monday morning.

Maybe we'll go out to lunch on Saturday. (Corner Bakery or something like that.) Let me know if you're interested. (Can reply here or let me know on Saturday.)
